A non-exhaustive list of projects Sascha's been working on:
- Acorn Active Media Foundation: engaging in software, website, and technical development in support of the Global Justice Movement. Sascha is the Co-founder and President of the organization.
- Boneyard Arts Festival: music and culture, the largest arts festival in the region. Sascha has served on the coordinating committee since 2003.
- CAIDA: the Cooperative Association for Internet Data Analysis (CAIDA) is a collaborative undertaking among organizations in the commercial, government, and research sectors aimed at promoting greater cooperation in the engineering and maintenance of a robust, scalable global Internet infrastructure. CAIDA provides a neutral framework to support cooperative technical endeavors. Sascha is a consultant working on next-generation community networking initiatives.
- Capacity Building for Community Wireless in Africa: project focuses on capacity building through training, materials development, knowledge networking, information dissemination, and general awareness raising, drawing on the considerable expertise of the implementing partners in community wireless projects on the one hand, and training and support materials development on the other. Sascha is a core partner and advisor.
- Champaign County Living Wage Association: non-poverty wages for a full work week. Sascha has been an active member since 2000.
- Chambana.net: low-cost web hosting services to non-profit organizations, small businesses, and individuals, both locally and internationally. Sascha helps organize and maintain the project.
- Community Technology Center Network (CTCnet): a national membership network of over 1000 community technology centers (CTCs) and other non-profits, united in their commitment to provide technology access and education to underserved communities. Sascha serves on the Board of Directors and is Vice President of the organization.
- Community Wireless Emergency Response Initiative: independent coalition of IT and wireless experts formed to do emergency telecommunications deployment post Hurricane Katrina. Sascha coordinated the initiative.
- COMMONS Project: an experiment to build a cooperative national backbone to connect select community and municipal networks to each other, and to the global Internet. Peering would be conditionally available to county, state, and federal government entities, academic institutions, and community wireless initiatives. The conditions are two-fold: (1) the attached networks must make select operational data available to Internet technology and policy researchers under appropriate legal data sharing frameworks; (2) the attached networks must agree to cooperatively develop and abide by policies based on confirmed results of empirical data analyses.
- CUWiN: non-profit developing open source wireless technologies whose three-part mission is to: connect more people to Internet and broadband services; develop open-source hardware and software for use by wireless projects world-wide; and, build & support community not-for-profit broadband networks worldwide. Sascha is the Co-founder and Executive Director.
- Government Technology's Digital Communities Web Portal: online comprehensive information resource for the public sector focused on wireless and other emerging technologies that are vital for the continuing success, safety and vitality of 21st century communities. Sascha is a regular contributer to the web portal.
- Ethos Wireless: a telecommunications consulting firm focused on the community benefits of wireless technology. Sascha is the Co-Founder and President.
- FreeNetworks.org: is a volunteer cooperative association dedicated to education, collaboration, and advocacy for the creation of FreeNetworks. Sascha is one of the core organizers for the coalition.
- Free Press: a national, nonpartisan organization working to reform the media and involve the public in media policymaking and promoting diverse and independent media ownership, strong public media, and universal, affordable access to communications. Sascha has served as a Policy Analyst for several years and continues to consult on various projects and initiatives.
- Global Indymedia: worldwide network of collectively run media outlets for the creation of radical, accurate, and passionate tellings of the truth. We work out of a love and inspiration for people who continue to work for a better world, despite corporate media's distortions and unwillingness to cover the efforts to free humanity. Sascha has been a core organizer for over half-a-decade and Indymedia's Treasurer since 2002.
- Global South Fund: providing funding and resources to independent media projects throughout the Southern hemisphere. Sascha is the Co-Founder and Coordinator.
- IMC Capital Campaign: support for the creation of the Urbana-Champaign Independent Media Center's Arts & Media Community Center. Sascha coordinated this initiative, culminating in the buying of the new UCIMC center.
- Institute of Communications Research: policy analysis and telecommunications research. Sascha is a Telecommunications Fellow at the ICR.
- Indymedia Growth in Africa Project: strengthening Indymedia throughout the African continent. Sascha is a Co-Founder and Coordinator.
- Indymedia US: a national news site syndicating content from throughout the US Indymedia network. Sascha coordinated its setup and remains involved.
- Muniwireless.com: one of the leading news and information websites on municipal wireless networking. Sascha is an Editor and active contributor.
- Political Performance & Social Action Class: class investigating politics, social justice, and community action. Sascha co-taught the course.
- Public ((i)) Newspaper: monthly newspaper of the Urbana-Champaign IMC. Sascha founded the paper in 2001.
- Tactical Media Fund: providing funding and resources to independent media projects around the globe. Sascha is the Co-Founder and Coordinator.
- Urbana-Champaign IMC: local Independent Media Center and Community Media & Arts Center. Sascha is a Co-Founder and the Treasurer Emeritus. Grew the organization from a $61 non-profit supported through "pass-the-hat" donations to a major benefactor of media and arts in the Midwest region.
- US Indymedia: Sascha coordinated the effort to set up IMC US -- creating a national portal for news and information gathered from scores of IMCs around the country.
- WEFT 90.1 FM Champaign Community Radio Station: local community radio station. Sascha served two terms on the Board of Directors and remains an active member.
- WRFU 104.5 LPFM Radio Free Urbana -- Low Power FM Radio Station: local low-power community radio station. Sascha is an active member and supporter and has helped with everything from lobbying in DC to studio construction and fundraising.
- WSFII.org: World Summits on Free Information Infrastructures are an ongoing international process of multiple, local action oriented events which provide space for people to come together, to share experiences, present practical solutions, to learn and to build, all kinds of Free Information Infrastructures. Sascha is a WSFII coordinator.
